NBI looks into ‘death threat’ on PASG chief
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has started looking into the death threats received by Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group (PASG) head Antonio Villar Jr.
Radio dwIZ reported that the NBI is now zeroing in on at least three of the supposed assassins, who it said are "wanted" and have outstanding arrest warrants.
Lawyer Edmundo Arugay, deputy of the PASG and a key NBI official, said an informant had furnished them photos of the three supposed hired killers.
He did not name them at this time.
Last Friday, Villar claimed at least five killers have been hired to track him down over a recent drug bust in Subic.
Villar made the claim at a media forum of the National Press Club in Manila.
He said he received information that the five killers are professionals who are based in Mindanao, and that he had been shown photographs of them.
Also, he said this means the PASG's operations had "hurt" the Bamboo Gang, whose operations he said may have been affected with last week's drug bust.
