ESEA CONFERENCE IN OLONGAPO CITY!

The City Government of Olongapo City is currently preparing to host the 16th ESEA Net (East and Southeast Asia Network) International Conference which is scheduled on the 19th until the 21st of November 2008. The theme of the conference is “Local Government Development: Searching for Ideal Communities.”

As part of the initial preparations for the conference, coordination meeting was recently held with the different department heads of the city government.

ESEA is a group of local government units of seven (7) countries in Southeast Asia. Olongapo city is the only member from the Philippines.

ESEA aims to promote innovative ways in local government administration and exchange of information between member cities regarding effective ways of local government administration.

This is the sixth (6th) time for the Philippines to host the ESEA Conference. The last ESEA conference in the Philippines was held at Hyatt Regency, Manila on December 2003.

“This is an opportunity to show the world that Olongapo is a model city when it comes to local government administration and public management. This puts Olongapo on the map on global competency with its excellent record on local governance,” City Administrator Ferdie Magrata said.
