BROWN-OUTS IN `GAPO

Due to strong winds brought about by typhoon “Julian”, the city again experienced power interruptions these past few days.

On August 04, 2008, power interruptions were experienced in Barangays West and East Bajac-Bajac and also parts of Brgy. Baretto.

Barangay Baretto experienced a power interruption by eleven ‘o clock (11am) in the morning caused by a broken power line.

By two ‘o clock (2pm) in the afternoon another power interruption hit Barangay Baretto. This time, a broken transformer caused the power outage.

Also, at around 2pm, West and East Bajac-Bajac experienced a power interruption caused by a fallen power line.

The Public Utilities Department (PUD) immediately responded to repair the cause of the interruptions and restored the power supply the soonest time possible.

Last July, it can be recalled that several brown-outs were also experienced by the city due to problems in the transmission lines being maintained by the National Power Corporation (NPC) and Transco.

“Sa kabila ng pagiging luma ng ating sistema ng kuryente sa lungsod, ginagwa namin ang lahat upang ma-normalize ang serbisyo ng kuryente sa Olongapo habang hinihintay nating ma-modernize ito,” ani Louie Lopez, manager ng PUD.

For more information about power interruptions please call the PUD 24-hour hotline 223-3105.
