NEW CITY FIRE MARSHALL

City Mayor James “Bong” Gordon Jr. formally introduced the new city fire marshall, C/Insp Jonas R. Silvano, during the flag raising on August 04, 2008

In his short speech during the flag-raising ceremony, Silvano laid out his plans to improve the city’s fire bureau.

“I plan to introduce computerization for the application of fire clearance in order to expedite the process,” Silvano said. “I also want to institute the pro-active approach in the application for fire clearance; we will make the clearance even before the business owners would apply.”

“Part of my program here, with the help of the mayor and the government, is to make the main equipment of the bureau of fire protection more dependable so we could deliver service in a more effective and efficient way,” Silvano added.

Silvano is from Olongapo City and graduated from the Philippine National Police Academy with a degree in Public Safety. He also took up Masters in Public Management at Columban College.

During his prior stint as fire marshall of the city of San Fernando, he introduced a system that expedited the process of obtaining fire safety clearances. He also served as a municipal fire marshall of Mecauayan, Bulacan.

Silvano was also previously assigned as Olongapo City fire marshall from January 1999 \until November 2003. He was also the commander and founder of the San Fernando Special Rescue Unit.
