OLONGAPO BOXERS SHINE IN ANGELES CITY

Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. recognized the winners of the Amateur Boxing Exhibition held last October 11 in Angeles City, Pampanga namely Rex Canag, Alejandro Estrella and Melchor Perez before the city employees and officials at the Rizal Triangle Multi-Purpose Covered Court.

The Olongapo Boxing team were invited by Angeles City Mayor Francis Nepomuceno together with Tarlac and Angeles City representatives to join the exhibition. Out team emerged as over-all champion with the support of their coach Arsenio Perez, Jr. who grabbed the award for Best Coach.

It can be recalled that last week Larry Abarra, one of Olongapo’s rising boxer visited the city, he is now undergoing rigid training in Baguio City. Mayor Gordon also recognized Abarra before the city employees and officials during the flag raising ceremony.

“Ipagpatuloy natin ang pagsuporta sa ating mga atleta, hindi lamang sa larangan ng boksing pati na rin sa ibang sports na kinabibilangan ng ating Lungsod. Isang patunay na ang Olongapo ay talagang competitive at nagsisikap na makamit ang layuning “Fighting for Excellence,” Mayor Gordon said.
