‘GAPO, REIGNS SUPREME IN SCIENCE FAIR CONTEST

The Regional Science High School bagged the two (2) First place awards in the Regional Science Fair Contest held in Pampanga High School on November 13-14, 2008. They won the “Life Science Individual and Team Categories”.

Mayor James Gordon, Jr. lauded the group headed by their coach Samson Buqueron during the flag raising ceremony on Monday, November 17, 2008.

“Maraming problema ang ating bansa, nawa’y ang proyektong ito ang makatulong sa paglutas ng problema natin kahit sa simpleng paraan”, Mayor Gordon said.

The winning project of the group features “Corn Shoot Extract as Fungicide of Rice Pathogens Cavara Sheath Blight” and “Bitaog Bark Extract as Anti-bacterial of E.Coli, S. Aureus and P. Aeiuginosa”.

Meanwhile, students of the Olongapo City National High School(OCNHS) snatched the second place award from the same contest with their project entitled “Chipipa Wound Bandage-Chitosan, Pineapple,Patothenic Acid wound Bandage”, “Automatic Light Beam Manipulator” and “Effectiveness of Chanos-Chanos and Tilapia Nilotica Scales as Absorbent Agent of Chromium in Bodies of Water.”

Mayor Gordon thanked the people of Olongapo for continuously striving to achieve its goal and live up to the expectation of being the “Most Competitive City”.

“Ipagpatuloy pa natin ang pagbibigay ng karangalan sa ating Lungsod, di lamang sa edukasyon, kundi sa lahat ng aspeto na makapagpapataas ng estado ng Olongapo,” Mayor Gordon added.
