SOCIAL WELFARE WEEK CELEBRATION

The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) is observed Social Welfare Week last week from November 19 to 21 November 2008.

The opening ceremonies were held on November 19, 2008 at the Barangay Sta. Rita Covered Court where Mayor James ‘Bong’ Gordon Jr. delivered a keynote message.

“Sports is vital to everyone’s health kasi physical exercise is a form of therapy so we can perform at an optimum level. This event also reinforces the strong bond between families at mabigyan ng pagkakataon ang mga nanay ng tahanan na mag-participate sa ibang mga social activities sa labas ng bahay,” said Mayor Gordon.

Afterwards, the players for the ‘Palaro ng Lahi’ and the muses were presented. Mabayuan candidate Jacel Ramirez was recognized as best muse.

Barangay Barretto emerged as the over-all winner in Volleyball while New Cabalan landed in second place and Barangays Mabayuan and Kalaklan shared third place.

“This celebration gives us the chance to interact with people whom we work with and learn more about collaboration and valuing one another,” said Gene Eclarino,” CSWDO chief.

“Maipapakita din sa pamamagitan ng sports competitions ang iba’t-ibang kakayanan ng bawat miyembro ng pamilya at magkakaroon pa ng mas harmonious relastionship upang maging mas maganda ang kanilang pagsasama,” added Eclarino.

Participants in the ‘Palaro ng Lahi’ include players from the Youth Center, Center for Women, OCARE and Center for Social Development.
