JOBS FOR ABROAD FAIR IN ‘GAPO

Five hundred fifty-two (552) applicants from Olongapo City and the province of Zambales rushed to Marikit Park on November 11, 2008 to avail of the special recruitment activity “Jobs for Abroad Fair” .

The activity was a joint project of Zambales War Against Poverty (ZWAP) Foundation, Inc. headed by former Zambales Vice-Governor Ramon Lacbain and YWA Human Resources Corporation in partnership with the Olongapo Public Employment Services Office (PESO) and Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr.

PESO Manager Evelyn Delos Santos said “karamihan sa mga aplikante ay kasalukuyang may trabaho ngunit nagbabakasakali na magkapagtrabaho sa ibang bansa”.

“Sila ay pawang mga qualified na magtrabaho bilang skilled workers sa Middle East, Korea, Australia, Guam at Canada”, added Delos Santos.

Due to numerous applicants, the Job Fair lasted from six o’clock in the morning to 8o’clock in the evening.

The positions offered were:

Electrical Engineers Heavy Equipment Operators
Mechanical Engineers Crane Operators
Civil Engineers Riggers
TIG Welders Scaffolders
MIG Welders Ship Fitters
Pipe Fitters Ship Welders
Structural Fabricators Ship Electricians
Carpenters Ship Painters
Instrument Fitters Masons

The “No placement fee” policy encouraged the applicants to pursue their applications . Minimum of 3 years work experience, bio-data, picture and certificate of employment are among the requirements.

The “Jobs for Abroad Fair” in ‘Gapo is one of the six Jobs Fair Marathon prepared by ZWAP and PESO.
