OLONGAPO VOLUNTEERS BEAT NUEVA ECIJA 62-60 IN NBTC TILT
Olongapo City’s official team, the Olongapo Volunteers beat the Nueva Ecija team (62-60) in the National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) D-League sponsored by Nokia. The game was held on November 8, 2008 at Nueva Ecija.
The game winning point was made by Carmelo Barrera, the current top scorer of Olongapo Volunteers.
The Olongapo Volunteers’ next game will be on December 6, 2008 at the Subic Gym in Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ) and on December 7, 2008 in Pampanga.
The NBTC-D League is on its second year in training kids from ages 14-16.
League benefactors include Senator Richard Gordon for the Olongapo City team.
Sports is included in Mayor James ‘Bong’ Gordon Jr.’s HELPS program to develop the talents and skills of the city’s youth to make them more competitive in the field of sports.
