JOB FAIR IN MARCH

Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. is inviting all Olongapeños to a one-day job fair organized by the Olongapo City Women’s Council chaired by First Lady and Vice Governor Anne Marie Gordon in coordination with the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) on March 10, 2009 at the Rizal Triangle Multi-Purpose Center from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm.

In line with the celebration of Women’s Month in Olongapo City, this job fair features local and overseas job opportunities. Several employment agencies from Manila are expected to participate along with some local companies inside the Freeport and Olongapo.

This activity intends to make overseas jobs within reach of Olongapeños who are aspiring to find jobs here and abroad. “Maraming aplikante na from Olongapo ang nakaalis papuntang Middle East at Taiwan na nag-apply sa mga job fair na isinagawa ng PESO,” shares Gordon. “Patuloy nating bibigyan ng oportunidad ang mga Olongapeños na magkaroon ng marangal na trabaho.”

Applying to different agencies in Metro Manila usually poses a big hindrance to these applicants financially. Mayor Gordon believes that this will give many qualified individuals in Olongapo another chance to work abroad through this job fair.

Meanwhile, the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) is now accepting applicants. SPES is a program of PESO for students looking for jobs while attending school to be able to sustain their education.

Registration for old SPES applicants is on March 3-5, 2009, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, while the registration for new applicants will be on March 11-13, 2009. The examination day is on March 14, 2009.

This program is open to poor but deserving students aged 15-25 years old, public high school students or college students enrolled in city colleges.
