WEST BAJAC-BAJAC WINS 2008 BEST RURAL HEALTH UNIT
Olongapo City has once again earned an award for outstanding performance and dedication in the field of medical and health care. The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) has awarded Brgy. West Bajac-Bajac as the Best Rural Health Unit in Olongapo and the province of Zambales for 2008 in celebration of its 14th Anniversary.
Philhealth CEO Dr. Rey B. Aquino and Philhealth Ist Vice-President Tito Mendiola awarded the plaque of recognition to Dr. Arnildo Tamayo of the City Health Office and Philhealth OIC on Philhealth Indigent Program Rizalino M. Jose in behalf of the city on February 25, 2009 at the King’s Royal Hotel and Restaurant in Bacolor, Pampanga.
During the flag-raising ceremony held at the Rizal Triangle Multi-Purpose Center, Mayor James Gordon, Jr. commended Barangay West Bajac-Bajac for exemplenary performance in rendering health services.
“Having won in the regional level with some Municipal Health Offices as nominees, Olongapo City has again proven its worth as the most competitive city in the entire Philippines,” Dr. Tamayo said. “This is the first time that one of the barangays of the city received an award from Philhealth and we will continue to improve the services of Philhealth in the 17 barangays in Olongapo City.”
“The award is given to an outstanding barangay which is first and foremost accredited by Philhealth, with high-standard facility set-up, quality service given to the public and proper documentation. Brgy. West Bajac-Bajac health center was the first barangay who acquired the philhealth accreditation in 2007 followed by Brgy. Gordon Heights, Sta. Rita, Barretto and New Cabalan in 2008,” Dr. Tamayo concluded.
