OLONGAPO BARANGAY KAGAWAD ELECTED IN THE NAT’L LEAGUE

Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. lauded Barangay Kagawad Marlon Austria of East Tapinac, Olongapo City for having been elected as secretary general of the Barangay Councilors League of the Philippines (BCLP).

Austria was elected during the 2009 National Executive Council Assembly held at Crown Regency Residences in V. Rama Avenue, Guadalupe, Cebu City recently.

As Secretary General, Austria is ranked third in the said organization. He also chairs the Committee on Laws, Rules and Ethics of BCLP.

“Ganyan dapat ang mga taga-Olongapo, conquering other territories,” Gordon remarked.
Austria is the incumbent president of the BCLP-Olongapo City Chapter. He was also the Secretary General of the said chapter in 2004.

BCLP is a national organization of the elected barangay councilors in the country whose goal is to promote and expand the potentials and competencies of all its members in their respective communities.

The assembly’s objective was to strengthen and maximize the roles of barangay councilors as duly elected public servants in the community.

Other elected officers are Julio Jaime of Parañaque City as national president; Crisanto Ramos (Batangas), executive vice president; Juliet Cunanan (Gen. Santos City), treasurer; Danilo Quijano (Isabela), VP-Luzon; Manuel Guanzon (Cebu), VP-Visayas; Bacar Abo (Sultan Kudarat), VP-Mindanao; Raymond Balagapo (Tacloban), auditor; and Lolita M. Nantes (Naga City), public relations officer.

Austria immediately extended an invitation to Senator Richard Gordon to be the adviser of BCLP which the senator graciously accepted.

Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. congratulates Kagawad Marlon Austria for having being elected as Secretary General of the Barangay Councilors League of the Philippines (BCLP). Austria is from East Tapinac, Olongapo City and is the incumbent president of the BCLP-Olongapo Chapter.
