2009 GRADUATES OF OLONGAPO RECOGNIZED

City Mayor James ‘’Bong’’ Gordon, Jr. has commended the city’s batch 2009 graduates. “Binabati ko ang mga nagsipagtapos na mag-aaral ng Lungsod ng Olongapo. Ialay nyo sa inyong mga magulang ang inyong mga diploma bilang pagtanaw sa mga sakripisyo at pagtitiyagang kanilang ginawa upang kayo’y makapagtapos,’’ Mayor Gordon said.

Mayor Gordon, expressed his belief that, “Every one, rich or poor, has an inherent right to obtain quality education.” He further said that education is one of the few valuable things that cannot be stolen from a person once he or she has earned it.

“Quality education remains the greatest equalizer in our society as it provides even the poorest individual a fighting chance to succeed and uplift the quality of life not only for himself or herself but also for his or her family and other members of the community,” he added.

Mayor Gordon also urged students to look beyond their initial accomplishments and not limit themselves to the opportunities that their initial accomplishments now present. He challenged the students by saying, “You have a whole range of opportunities ahead; never get tired of learning and dare to excel in everything you do, and you will surely reach great heights of success.”

Meanwhile, Public Employment Service Office (PESO) head Evelyn delos Santos pledged to extend assistance to the newly grads, “Bukas ang Olongapo Public Employment Service Office (PESO) upang kayo ay alalayan at tulungan sa paghahanap ng trabahong angkop sa inyong pinag-aralan.’’

It can be recalled that PESO recently conducted a career guidance and counseling activity to assist graduating students to choose courses suited to their respective capabilities and provide career tips and orientation.

High school graduates may also avail the city’s free trainings like welding training, livelihood seminars, Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) among others.

More information regarding free trainings may be obtained through the Olongapo City Training Center, 3rd floor, City Hall or Public Employment Service Office (PESO), City Hall. pao rem
