20% DISCOUNT ON REAL PROPERTY TAX, EXTENDED!
Good news to all real property tax payers! Due to numerous requests for the extension of the 20% discount on the advance payment of real property tax, the Sangguniang Panlungsod approved Ordinance No. 1 (series of 2010) “An Ordinance Extending the 20% Discount on the Advance Payment of Real Property Taxes due for the year 2010” as provided under section 2B.12 of the 2007 Revenue Code.
The twenty percent (20%) discount on the advance payment of Real Property Taxes due for Tax Year 2009 is extended until February 15, 2010 to taxpayers who will pay their Real Property Taxes (RPTs) in full.
The City Treasurer in coordination with the City Assessor and the City Finance Committee recommended the extension of the said program which City Councilor Edwin J. Piano sponsored at the city council.
Mayor James Gordon, Jr. extended the 20% discount to help Real Property Taxpayers save the much-needed cash for their families’ basic needs like food, medicines and clothing and to avoid inconvenience and penalty.
“The funds collected from RPT payers are used for the city’s infrastructure projects like the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges and buildings and for the various social, health, and peace and order programs of the city government,” Andawi said.
“The first quarter payment of RPTs this year should be paid from January 3 to March 31, 2010, from April 1 to June 30 for the second quarter, from July 1 to September 30, for the third quarter and from October to December 31, 2010 for the fourth quarter,” Andawi added.
