SEEDLINGS FOR A GREENER CITY

Mayor James “Bong” Gordon Jr. turned-over 15 sets of assorted seedlings to barangay officials at the flag raising ceremonies held recently at the Rizal Triangle Covered Court as part of his “Halaman sa Bagong-Bayan” project.

Barangay Captains Conrado Viray of New Asinan, Ernelizer Batapa of New Banicain, Filipina Tablan of East Bajac-Bajac, Benjamin Franco of East Tapinac, Edgardo Gingco of Gordon Heights, Eduardo de Ocampo of Mabayuan, Audie Sundiam of New Cabalan, Amalia Corum of New Kababae, Eduardo Gloria of New Kalalake, Basilio Palo of Old Cabalan, Jimmy Pasag of Pag-Asa, Rafel Santulan of West Bajac-Bajac and Rodrigo del Rosario of West Tapinac received the seedlings that will be planted in their respective barangays.

Each set of seedlings contains 10 vegetable seeds of Bush Sitao, Spinach Chivas, Chinese Kangkong Upland, Chinese Cabbage, Raddish, Smooth Green Okra, Brutus Sitao, Mustard, Senator Upo, Pechay and 5 varieties of fruit-bearing plants such as Sugar Baby Watermelon, White Corn, Hybrid Papaya, Honey White Corn, and Florala Tomato.

Mayor Gordon has also tasked the barangay officials to convert the vacant lots in their areas into nurseries where residents could avail of seedlings for planting.

To avail of free seedlings, visit the City Agriculture Office headed by Jhobal Sebarrotin at the 3rd floor of Olongapo City Hall.

Mayor Bong Gordon with the barangay officials give the thumbs-up sign for the ‘’Halaman sa Bagong-Bayan’’ project. Mayor Gordon turned-over the assorted seedlings to the barangay officials during the flag raising ceremony at the Rizal Triangle Covered Court recently.
