FIRE ALERT!
Two fire incidents broke out on Thursday, January 27, 2011. The first one located at 23rd St. East Bajac-Bajac, Olongapo City occurred at around 9:45 in the morning.
The estimated damage on the two storey residential building owned by George Wong was placed at some eight hundred thousand (P800,000) pesos.
Concerned residents of 23rd street alerted the Fire station police at around 9:40 in the morning when they saw smoke billowing from the said place.
A group of firefighters from the Bureau of Fire Protection led by Fire Chief Jonas R. Silvano responded to the call in a matter of minutes.
A total of seven fire trucks responded at the scene. Five from the Olongapo City Fire Station and two from the S.B.M.A. (Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority).
Fire Chief Silvano declared fire out at 11:30 in the morning.
FL Anne Marie Gordon was present and directed fire-fighting efforts at the scene.
After an hour, at about 10:45 in the morning, another fire razed a one-storey building located at Lot 14, Block 4, Water dam Road, Gordon Heights, Olongapo City.
The estimated damage on the residential house owned by Melinda Valenzuela, was more or less four hundred thousand pesos (P400,000).
When residents saw smoke from the house of Valenzuela, they called up the Bureau of Fire Protection in Olongapo which responded with fire fighters group led by Fire Chief Jonas R. Silvano.
Four fire trucks were deployed in a matter of minutes. Three from the Olongapo City Fire Station and one came from the DMO (Disaster Management Office).
At about 12:15 noon, Fire Chief Silvano proclaimed fire out. No injuries were reported in the two incidents.
The cause of fire in both incidents is still under investigation.
The fire incidents has prompted Mayor James “Bong” Gordon Jr. to issue a reminder for city residents to observe due care and practices to avoid fire incidents.
