Ex-chief tanod charged for rape
A former barangay tanod chief was charged with statutory rape before the city prosecutor's office for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old girl in Barangay New Cabalan Monday morning.
The suspect, Roberto Santos, 40, former barangay tanod chief of Purok 6, Barangay Cabalan, tried to commit suicide inside the Police Precinct No. 4 detention cell toilet.
A report reaching the office of city police director Senior Supt. Florencio Buentipo, Jr. said Santos went to the toilet at 10 a.m. but minutes later, he was found lying unconscious on the floor. The suspect was taken to the James Gordon Memorial Hospital.
"Hindi siguro matanggap ng konsensiya ng suspek doon sa ginawa niya sa bata," said a police officer.
Linda (not her real name) said the suspect molested her when she was alone in the house.
