PGMA SA SBMA

Dumating si Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo sa Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ) nitong ika-19 ng Hulyo 2007.

Kasamang dumating ng pangulo si Senator Richard ‘’Dick’’ Gordon na sinalubong ng mga opisyales ng bansa, top ranking officials ng SBMA na sina Chairman Feliciano G. Salonga at Administrator Armand C. Arreza, Olongapo City Mayor James ‘’Bong’’ Gordon, Jr. at Zambales Vice-Governor Anne Marie Gordon.

Sa pagdalaw ni PGMA ay kaniyang pinangunahan ang inagurasyon ng first phase ng $5-million Subic port modernization, ang flagship infrastructure project ng Arroyo Administration na inaasahang higit pang magtutulak sa premier Freeport bilang logistisc hub ng rehiyon.

Ang Subic Seaport New Container Terminal 1 (NCT 1) ay maituturing na major container port ngayon sa bansa na maaaring tumanggap ng naglalakihang Panamax vessels at cargos

Ang nasabing proyekto ay bahagi pa rin ng 10-point agenda ng Pamahalaang Arroyo na kabilang sa higit pang papaunlad sa Subic Bay at Clark Zones upang makipag-sabayan sa Asya Pasipiko pagdating sa international service at pagiging logistic centers.


Samantala, sa mensahe ni Mayor Bong Gordon ay sumentro ito sa benepisyong hatid ng proyekto, ‘’Dapat pakinabangan ng mga taga-Olongapo ang Subic Seaport-NCT 1 at inaasahang malaking bilang ng mga manggagawang Olongapeño ang magiging bahagi sa operasyon nito.’’

Matatandaan, na ang Hanjin Heavy Industries. Co. (HHIC) na isang shipbuilding facility sa Freeport at may kabuuang puhunan na P1.684 billion ay sa Olongapo ang umaasang kukuha ng malaking human workforce nito.

Si Olongapo City Mayor Bong Gordon at Zambales Vice-Gov. Anne Marie Gordon sa kanilang masayang pagbati sa pagdating ni Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo nitong ika-19 ng Hulyo 2007 para sa inagurasyon ng Subic Seaport New Container Terminal-1.
