IBM Phils., SBMA donate 'KidSmart' computers
SUBIC BAY FREEPORT - IBM Philippines, in cooperation with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), has donated IBM KidSmart Young Explorer computers to three public elementary schools in the Subic Bay area.
The three computer units, worth a total of P375, 000, were turned over to officials of the Olongapo City Elementary School, Nagbayan Elementary School in Castillejos, Zambales; and F. Angeles Memorial Elementary School in barangay Sabang, Morong, Bataan.
SBMA deputy administrator for corporate communications Maria Asuncion Fernando said that the 18 public school teachers also received a three-day training here to familiarize them with computer operation and learning modules, said Ma. Asuncion Fernando, SBMA deputy administrator for corporate communications.
"What the IBM and SBMA expect from the teachers is the transfer to the children of what they have learned from this seminar-training. This is a long-term investment for the future of the children," Asuncion told The STAR.
IBM Phils. Inc. territory business development manager Renzo Belardo said the donation precisely aims to help enhance the learning curve of pupils, particularly those at the pre-school to grade two age group. - Bebot Sison - PhilStar
