Arroyo lauds PASG campaign v. smuggling
PASG have already filed cases against Tri-Solid, an oil company based in Subic Bay Free Port, for the unliquidated 138 million liters of fuel, as well as, against Oil Link for their undeclared shipments. "The same with PTT Philippines Corporation. They were already able to pay the government in advance the amount of P400 million, with another P400 million this year."
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo commended unprecedented effort of the Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group (PASG) in running against smugglers in the country, PASG head Antonio Villar said.
Villar reported to his province mates during the Lingayen Fiesta and Coronation Night last Saturday "the PASG's accomplishments that contributed to the increased revenue collection of the Bureau of Customs."
He said the seven-month-old task force has raided several warehouses and confiscated about 162 luxury-imported vehicles.
He said they would present these to Arroyo next week. He said payment of the vehicles' necessary taxes would mean billion of pesos in income for the government.
According to Villar, they already have filed cases against Tri-Solid, an oil company based in Subic Bay Free Port, for the unliquidated 138 million liters of fuel, as well as, against Oil Link for their undeclared shipments.
"The same with PTT Philippines Corporation. They were already able to pay the government in advance the amount of P400 million, with another P400 million this year. But if there is fraud and I'm sure there is fraud, under the law you have to multiply that by eight and we will be generating another more than P4 billion for the government," he said. (LCMY/Sunnex)
