Cell Phone Thieves, Arrested!!
Mayor Bong Gordon commended the Olongapo City Police Office (OCPO) headed by PSSupt. Abelardo Villacorta for the arrest of the suspects in the series of hold up and “agaw-cell phone” incidents in Barangay Sta. Rita last January 15, 2008.
Olongapo Police Station 5 recognized the three (3) suspects as Dennis Delgado y Avenila, 17, of Lot 1 Blk. 3 Aries St., Family Subd., Sta. Rita, Ryan Sanchez y Tolentino, 17, of 532F Filtration, Sta Rita and Cris Bonifacio y Rodillas, 21, of 801 Marilag St., Sta. Rita.
Two residents of Barangay Sta. Rita have been the latest victims of the ‘’agaw-cell phone’’ suspects. According to the police report, the two victims were waiting for a yellow passenger jeepney on Tuesday when the suspects armed with a gun and ice pick approached and declared a ‘hold up’. The suspects forcibly took away two units of Nokia cell phones from the victims.
With the aid of passers-by, the victims were able to chase and collar Dennis Delgado but the others managed to escape. A follow up operation conducted by PInsp. Santos Candido, Jr. resulted to the arrest of two other suspects. One paltik caliber 38 revolver without serial number loaded with two live ammos, one improvised ice pick and the two Nokia cell phones were recovered from the suspects who are now facing appropriate charges.
Meanwhile, Mayor Gordon warned those who are planning to disturb peace and order in the city. “Hindi ko hahayaang guluhin ninuman ang peace and order ng Olongapo City”, the Mayor said.
