Olongapo Campus Journalists, To Compete in NSPC
The Olongapo City delegation once again qualified for the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) on February 18-22, 2008 in Koronadal, South Cotabato.
After having won as 3rd runner up in the over-all competition in the recent Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) in Subic, Zambales, the Olongapo delegation will go to South Cotabato where the national competition for campus journalists will be held. Students from different schools in the country will join in the said confab.
City Mayor James ‘’Bong’’ Gordon, Jr. fully supports the young campus journalists of the city in their forthcoming national contest. The mayor said that the young writers’ regional achievement which qualified them to join in the said NSPC is another proof that even the young Olongapeños are competent enough for national level competitions.
Among the regional winners from the different schools in Olongapo are Krysdyn Lei Maceda, Christian James Alba, Mark Neil Tolentino, Russyan Mark Mabeza, Renz Marion Corpuz, Zarah Jane Palac and Bernice Detal.
With the theme “Promoting Consumers’ Rights through Campus Journalism”, the students will compete in different categories such as Editorial Writing, News Writing, Feature Writing, Photo Journalism, Copy Reading and Headline Writing, Sports Writing, Scriptwriting, Editorial Cartooning and Radio Broadcast Contest.
Olongapo City participates in NSPC every year where only the top 3 winners of each category in the regional level qualify.
