Cops eye 'scorned' love behind Olongapo killings

The killing of model Scarlet Garcia and three others in Olongapo City last Thursday may have been the result of the fury of a woman scorned, police investigators said on Friday.

In a radio interview, Olongapo police chief Sr. Supt. Abelardo Villacorta said George Castro Jr - Garcia's live-in partner - received threatening text messages from a former flame shortly before their killing.

Aside from Garcia - who is reportedly a member of sexy group Viva Hot Babes- and Castro, also killed were Rachel Estacio and Van Mark Bandejas.

"May mga text messages na natanggap ang pamilya ni George na nagsasabing uubusin ang pamilya nila kung mapupunta lang si George kay Scarlet. Babae daw ang nagte-threaten... Accordingly, may dating ka live-in si George na dati niyang katrabaho (George's family received text messages that George's family would be killed if George went to Scarlet. A woman was allegedly behind those threats. It appears George had a former live-in partner, a former colleague at work)," Villacorta said on Bombo Radyo.

Villacorta, however, said they are still not discounting the possibility of robbery or a grudge as the motive behind the killings.

He also said they expect to get more leads this weekend, now that the autopsy on the four had been completed as of Thursday night.

On the other hand, Villacorta said police are still trying to get leads on the whereabouts of two men seen near the crime scene shortly before the killings.

Initial investigation showed the four were shot in the head, and that the killers tried to cover up the murders by setting fire to the townhouse where the incident occurred. Castro and Bandejas were also found to have been bound using electrical cords, while Garcia and Estacio had no underwear when their bodies were found.

Two or more suspects could have carried out the killing, police said. - GMANews.TV
