2 suspects in Hot Babe’s slay fall

Probers believe that the brutal slaying of Viva Hot Babe Scarlet Garcia and three others in Olongapo City a month ago can now be solved with the arrest of two men who were involved in a robbery in Pampanga last Friday.

Police said the two suspects were implicated in the massacre after one of the three firearms confiscated from them was found to be the same gun used in the killings in Garcia’s condominium unit in Olongapo City last March 13.

Police identified the suspects as Ferdinand Cadenas, 21, and Jay AR Perez Mojica, alias John Ariel Santos, 23, both of Mandaluyong City.

The two were nabbed for robbing a house in Villa Corazon Subdivision in San Fernando City last Friday. Three of their companions escaped.

“We conducted cross matching on the 9-mm Bernardelli pistol and found out that the bullets that killed Garcia were fired from the same gun,” Chief Superintendent Arturo Cacdac Jr, chief of the PNP Crime Laboratory, told The STAR.

Cacdac said the 9-mm Bernardelli pistol model P018S with serial number 303240 was licensed to a certain Miguel Lagman.

Police are now locating Lagman to determine why his firearm was used in the massacre and the robbery.

The two arrested suspects, meantime, are being interrogated to determine their link to the Olongapo massacre.

Police are also on the lookout for the three other suspects in the robbery who are said to be members of the Galindez Group that is affiliated with the Sako Group.

Those who escaped were identified by their arrested cohorts as Henry Cheng Fong alias Bok, of San Juan, Metro Manila; Benny Crisologo, also of San Juan; and Anthony Benipayo, of Barangay Pembo, Makati City.

Garcia, her boyfriend and two others were found dead inside her apartment in Olongapo City last March 13. They all had gunshot wounds.

The killers apparently tried to cover up the crimes by setting the apartment on fire.

Police are also investigating the possible connection of the victims to alleged car theft or a love triangle angle. By Cecille Suerte Felipe - PhilStar
