Caravan to steer SCTEx opening

A caravan on Saturday will usher the official opening of the whole stretch of the 94-kilometer Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx), the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) said.

At 7 a.m. on April 26, participants in the "Global Gateway Caravan" will converge at the Luisita Mall Complex in San Miguel, Tarlac City, where fun games and a short program will be held prior to the departure towards Subic.

The send-off activities will include symbolic release of balloons and fireworks, to set off the tune for the whole event.

The contingent will travel from Subic using the SCTEx via its entrance in Balingkanauay and interchange in La Paz, Tarlac-the northern tip of the new toll road. They will then proceed to the Mabalacat Entry Point in Clark where they will be joined by participants coming from Clark.

"At this point caravan participants from Clark will be joining the tail end of the main caravan," the BCDA said.

The caravan is expected to reach Subic via Tipo Expressway at 11 a.m. It will go directly to Boardwalk inside the Subic Freeport where a reception is set by Subic Bay Metropolitan Administration chief Armand Arreza.

After the Subic affairs, the caravan will travel back to Clark where it will tour the Fontana Leisure Estate, Clark Parade ground, Clark Development Corporation (CDC) complex, Mimosa Estates and other commercial areas.

At 3 p.m., the contingent will be treated by another program at the Nayong Pilipino-Clark.

The whole caravan is the last biggest event before the official opening of SCTEx this month. - Sun.Star Pampanga
