Student ‘chanters’ in Subic

THE DEPARTMENT of Education Division of Davao City will compete today for the first National English Jazz Chants Festival to be held in Subic, Olongapo.

These team of “chanters” is composed of public high school students who attended the 2007 DepED-Convergys Oral Communications Training.

The Davao team, numbering around 20, will represent Region 11 after they emerged victorious in the first Regional English Jazz Chant Festival from eight other competing Divisions. Representatives from Davao del Norte and Samal City placed second and third, respectively.

Four winners will be proclaimed - one each from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and one grand champion for the Best Speaker in English.

Winners will be announced tomorrow.

Each winning team will receive P5,000 while the grand champion will receive P10,000. The four winning teacher-coaches will be entitled to a 3-day trip to Singapore for free according to DepEd XI official website. By Nef Luczon - .mindanaotimes.com.ph
