14 HELD IN TUPADAS

CASTILLEJOS, Zambales – Plice arrested 14 cockfighting aficionados in two separate tupada raids in Subic, Zambales Sunday.

In his report to Zambales police director Senior Supt. Rolando Felix, 315th police Mobile Group director supt. Jerry Sumbad said at 10:20 a..m., a team led by Insp. Lynelle Solomon arrested Severo Bonayan, 41, Josilito Estrada, 41, Renato Lachica, 70, and Roy Vicente, 51, all of Subic, in a raid at the tupada or illegal cockfighting in Purok-5, Barangay Sacatihn-Aningway.

Recovered from the four were two fighting cocks, p430 in bets and six gaffs.

At 11 a.m., another team led by Insp. Michael Chavez raided the tupada in Purok 4, Barangay San Isidr, Subi, and arrested Alberto Flores, 55, Buenaventura Bagsic, 65, Rafael Avelano, 38, Jerry Caoile, 39, Ruel Monillo, 38, Florante Flores, 52, Ariel Mirador, 36, Joey Vargas, 21, Milo Salvadora, 40 and Crisanto Apostol, 39. The 10 yielded five fighting cocks, 15 gaffs and p1,900.

Earlier, Zambales Governor Amor Deloso issued an Executive Order No. 1 ordering the police to stop all illegal gambling activities in the province.

The 14 suspects will be charged with illegal gambling.
