Four robbers held in Zambales

CASTILLEJOS, Zambales -- Four of five members of a robbery gang were arrested by operatives of the 315th Provincial Mobile Group and Castillejos police after a pursuit operation in Barangay Nagbunga here over the weekend. Zambales police director Senior Supt. Rolando Felix said Don Ryan Kasuyuran, alias Ryan Dela Cruz, 28, Randy Magdalas 29, Jung Cayagan, 27, and Carlito Gamboa, 25, were members of a robbery-hold-up gang operating in Tabuk, Isabela and Tuguegarao, Cagayan. Another suspect identified as Edmund escaped. Supt. Jerry Sumbad, 315th PMG Group director, said his men led by Insp. Nilo Gonzales and Insp. Gerry Haduca of Castillejos police station were conducting a checkpoint at 5 p.m. Saturday when they encountered the suspects in a Hyundai Grace van (WMG-790) on the national highway in Barangay Nagbunga.
Reports said the suspects ignored the checkpoint and fired at the policemen, prompting them to retaliate. The suspects vehicle crashed into the bridge railing. All suspects suffered gunshot wounds from M-16 Armalite rifle were rushed to the nearest hospital. Magdalas was detained at the Castillejos jail.
Police recovered from the suspects a .45 (paltik), a .22 Magnum pistol, six assorted jewelry, tampered vehicle plates WMC-190, original plate WMG-790, improvised plate WGA-543, a magazine assembly for Carbine, nine .22 Magnum bullets and assorted bullets for .45 pistol and .38 revolver.
