OWWA OPENS SEARCH FOR MODEL OFW FAMILY OF THE YEAR AWARD

The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) of Olongapo City has announced the opening of the search for Model OFW Family of the Year Award in cooperation with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

According to PESO, the selection will be based on the following criteria:

1. Wholesome OFW Family
2. Civic/Community Involvement of OFW and Family
3. Success in OFW and/or family member/s education or profession
4. Success in Family Finances

All Overseas Filipino Workers who have worked overseas at least 4 years are invited to join the contest.

The contest is focused on OFW’s and their family members, their activities or community involvements, and some success financial management stories.

Interested applicants are encouraged to come at the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) on September 5-17, 2008. Nominees’ interview is scheduled on September 19, 2008 by an OWWA R03 Representative.

Meanwhile, the OWWA is opening a Scholarship Program, for the immediate dependents of OFW’s who intend to pursue courses in College.

The Scholarship is exclusively for the sons and daughters of OWWA members or brothers and sisters of an unmarried OWWA member, below 21 years old, Filipino citizen and with no pending application for citizenship in any country, and does not have a dual citizenship, must be in good health, and not a recipient of any scholarship.
