OATHTAKING OF OLONGAPO, MAHAL KO FOUNDATION HELD
The newly elected officers of the Olongapo Mahal Ko Foundation took their oath of office before Mayor James ‘Bong’ Gordon Jr. on October 6, 2008 during the city employee’s flag-raising at the Rizal Triangle Multi-Purpose Center.
The Olongapo Mahal Ko Foundation was founded by Mayor Gordon and Zambales Vice Governor and Olongapo City First Lady Anne Marie Gordon. The foundation is already on its second year serving the city’s indigent families.
“Ang foundation ay tumutulong sa mga indigent na mamamayan ng Olongapo pagdating sa kanilang pangunahing mga pangangailangan. Layunin ng Olongapo Mahal Ko Foundation na mabigyan ng maayos na pamumuhay ang mga mamamayan at tulungan silang itaguyod ang kanilang mga pamilya,” said foundation Vice President Juliet Tarrayo.
“Isa sa mga prioridad ng foundation ay ang pagbibigay ng edukasyon sa mga mahihirap na mamayan ng lungsod kaya’t isinusulong namin ang scholarship para sa mga kabataan,” added Tarrayo. “Sa ngayon ay may one hundred forty three (143) kaming mga scholars na nag-aaral sa elementary at high school.”
Programs of the foundation include medical and hospital assistance, livelihood and other social services. The foundation is currently made-up of volunteers from the different barangays of the city.

Meanwhile, Mayor Gordon continues to give social welfare assistance to persons with disabilities of the city and recently, during the flag-raising ceremony Mayor Gordon gave crutches to Maricel Ammay of Barangay Barretto and Generosa Bayona of Barangay Sta. Rita.
