REIGNING 2008 BB. OLONGAPO TO REPRESENT THE CITY IN 2009 MS. PHILIPPINES-EARTH
Multi-titlist Angelee Claudett Francisco Delos Reyes has taken center stage once again as the official candidate of Olongapo City to the 2009 Ms. Philippines-Earth which will hold its Coronotion Night on May 10 at The Arena, San Juan, Metro-Manila.
A resident of Barangay New Cabalan in Olongapo City and stands 5’ 7” with 34-24-36 vital stats, the 21-year-old lass started joining beauty pageants when she was in her first year in college. She was hailed Miss Nursing 2004 at Columban College and eventually Miss Sports Fest 2004 that led to her participation in the Ms. PRISAA 2005 (Private Schools Athletic Association) in Region 3 where she placed 2nd runner up.
“As they say, we have to take one small step towards success. I did,” Delos Reyes shares.
Delos Reyes continued her quest for titles by joining Bb. Zambales 2007 where she bagged the Best in Talent, Best in Long Gown and the title itself.
“My first time to represent Olongapo City in a national pageant was in Mutya ng Pilipinas 2007 where I was one of the top 15 Finalists among some 200 candidates from all over the country. I was challenged to be better and to do better,” Delos Reyes recalled.
Last October 2008, she was crowned as the first-ever Bb. Olongapo. “As the titleholder, one of my obligations is to promote tourism in our city. It also includes representing the city in a national pageant such as the Ms. Philippines-Earth,” she shares.
“Miss Philippines Earth is totally different since it is not just a beauty pageant but a pageant with a purpose of protecting and preserving our environment. We all know that Olongapo City is proud to have well-preserved eco-tourism spots, not to mention being one of the cleanest and greenest cities in the Philippines. It is an honor for me to be the official candidate of Olongapo City in Miss Philippines-Earth 2009,” Delos Reyes remarked.
“We are pleased to send a candidate who can help promote and campaign for our environmental advocacy,” Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. said.
When asked what her personal advocacy is in caring for the environment, “START AT HOME! Let us start doing simple acts of caring for our environment at home,” Delos Reyes said. According to the website www.missphilippines-earth.com, “Now on its 9th year... the Miss Philippines-Earth has always been known for its unprecedented regional search for a true Filipina who cares for and helps in the preservation of the environment.” PAO - CHAY
