BIR closes establishments in Olongapo
THE Bureau of Internal Revenue has closed down establishments in the region under the agency’s Oplan Kandado program.
The business establishments were closed for having committed gross violations of the National Internal Revenue Code, most of which were violations of value-added (VAT) tax filing.
RDO 18 Olongapo City shuttered four businesses in its jurisdiction. Closed were Benso Champ Corp., Villegas General Merchandise, Benso Winner Corp. and Ascending Ray Corp., all located in Olongapo City.
Benso Champ was found to have underdeclared its sales by 100 percent, and failed to file its 2007 VAT returns.
Villegas General, which is owned by Amelia Villegas, failed to report its sales by at least 91 percent. It was also cited for failure to register as VAT taxpayer, failed to issue VAT invoice and did not file 2008 VAT returns.
Benso Winner and Ascending both failed to declare sale of pharmaceuticals by 100 percent, and also failed to file 2007 VAT returns.
Revenue Regional Director Romulo Aguila Jr. stressed that the said closures within his region should serve as a warning to other erring taxpayers.
“We expect more closures within my region before the end of the month, unless our taxpayers rectify their violations, comply in earnest and pay the correct taxes due to the government. Otherwise, they will be shuttered,” he said in a statement. Written by VG Cabuag / Business Mirror Reporter
