Third World Eye Care Society (TWECS) Canada medical mission in Olongapo-Subic

For the second time in our city, The Third World Eye Care Society (TWECS) Canada scheduled another medical mission starting this Sunday Nov.14 and will last until November 25, 2010.

They have helped over three thousand (3,000) Olongapeños on their eye care concerns in their first visit two years ago... This time, they are ready for 5,000 up to 7,000 patients. Mayor Gordon in his annoncement during this Monday's flag ceremony said that this will be the biggest medical mission our city will experience.

TWECS visits developing countries to help people in their areas with eye problems. The team comprising TWECS includes world class eye care professionals like eye surgeons, optometrists, and other volunteers from different parts of the world.

TWECS plans to serve around 500 people each day during their stay in Olongapo. Local eye doctors and volunteers from the City Government & various barangays are also helping TWECS in this undertaking.

Hereunder is the venue for TWECS activities:
Nov. 14 - Mampueng, Old Cabalan
Nov. 15 - Iram Covered Court, New Cabalan
Nov. 16-17 - Sta.Rita Covered Court (includes Gordon hts & Old Cab)
Nov. 18-19 - Kalaklan Covered Court (includes Barreto & Subic)
Nov. 22-25 - Rizal Triangle Covered Court (other barangays)

The group was founded by Dr. Marina Roma-March in 1995. Her grandmother is an immigrant from the Philippines.

Mayor James ‘Bong’ Gordon Jr. with the eye care professionals from the Third World Eye Care Society- Canada (TWECS). The group held a free eye consultation and examination at the Iram Resettlement Area last November 10, 2008.
