Landslide in Balimpuyo, Sta Rita, Olongapo took two lives

A landslide occurred this morning at Mt. Balimpuyo, Sta. Rita, Olongapo City.. Four houses were totally damaged by a huge boulder that rolled from the mountain top. seven injured persons were brought to the hospital and another two died on the spot.

the brown portion of this huge rock formation is where the detached boulder came from... rolled down the hill and crushed four houses, injured seven individuals and took the lives of 2 persons this morning

Eng'g dept. kindly survey the mountainous area na may mga bahay sa baba lalo na sa parte ng mabayuan at gordon heights update the residents and evacuate them if necessary to do so.   • Sung Rae Joon to engg dept of the city: pls initiate immediate remedial measure asap. dont wait for this rock to fall, its so stupid to do that waiting. put enough cables that will hold the rock. anchor these cables to a "dead man" that has sufficient in weight enough to hold the weight of the big rock that is going to fall. place the "dead man" in a stable place and make sure it is anchored also in a stable ground.

  • Sung Rae Joon put also additional supports that will hold the big rock. consider putting
    massive riprap wall below the big rock. riprap should act as a unit by providing enough wire mesh or cyclone wire. you will need a lot of manpower here. mobilize the residents of tabacuhan and sta rita. dont waste time.
