Magsaysay's 49th death anniversary on March 17

FAMILY and friends of former President Ramon Magsaysay will mark his 49th death anniversary on March 17 with a wreath-laying ceremony at his tomb at North Cemetery in Manila to be followed by a Mass at 7:30 a.m. to be officiated by Fr. Dennis Meim, SDB.
In Castillejos, Zambales, Magsaysay’s hometown, a Mass will be said at St. Nicholas parish as well as in other local churches. Flowers will be laid at his monuments in the town plaza and at the Magsaysay ancestral home, according to acting Mayor Enrique Clarin.
In the evening, Director Jesus Vicente Magsaysay of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority will be the guest of honor in a cultural show to be staged by students of Jesus Magsaysay High School and St. Nicholas Academy and hosted by the Department of Education.
In Cebu, the annual trek dubbed Paghandum ni Magsaysay (Remembering Magsaysay) will kick off at 10 a.m. with a Mass at the Magsaysay Shrine on Mt. Manunggal, the mountain where the presidential plane named Mt. Pinatubo crashed shortly after takeoff from the Cebu airport.
Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia will lead in the wreath-laying ceremony that will follow the Mass.
