RED CROSS LAUNCHES 2006 FUND-RAISING CAMPAIGN
With its commitment to serve the people and alleviate human suffering, the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) launches an annual Membership and Fund Campaign Drive “kick-off” on April 10, 2006. The said campaign aims to generate significant amount of funds for the PNRC as it marks the official start of their annual fund raising project.
PNRC Chairman and Senator Richard J. Gordon revealed that the Red Cross targets P500 million nationwide during the month-long activity to cover all the operational expenses for rescue, relief and rehabilitation; healthcare; first-aid and safety works; disaster preparedness, prevention and management; blood service and other welfare assistance.
To formally start the month-long celebration, the Red Dot Campaign will be introduced in Market! Market! Activity Center, wherein individual supporters can get discount coupons and freebies from different establishments in exchange for their contributions to Red Cross.
“I encouraged everyone to be generous and kind whenever a Red Cross volunteer approach them because through your help, the Red Cross can immediately send assistance in times of crisis.” Gordon stated.
Aside from the fund drive, there will be Membership with Accident Assistance Benefits Program wherein every Filipino is encouraged to become a part of the Red Cross family. The said program intends to provide benefits for accidents, death, disablement and hospitalization for only P35.00
According to PNRC Fund Generation Director Gwendolyn T. Pang, the Red Dot Campaign is part of the promotion of its fund-raising activities. She added that these will also serve as an awareness campaign to the public for them to support the various Red Cross activities of their respective chapters.
Gordon also explained that the PNRC is the foremost humanitarian organization in the country and it continuously works to strengthen and upgrade its response system, as well as enhance the capability of its staff and volunteers to ensure the efficient delivery of Red Cross Services.
