Hanjin shipbuilding facility boosts Philippine employment
Subic Bay Freeport (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - South Korea's Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction (KSE:003480), to boost its original US$1 billion investment in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone by an additional US$684 million, has posted an employment increase rate of 180 per cent from its 2007 target.
Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Administrator Armand Arreza made the announcement after the recent inauguration rites for the opening of the P653 million (US$14 million) Subic-Cawag-Balaybay access road.
Hanjin's shipbuilding facility now provides jobs to 5,165 Filipinos and 150 Korean nationals.
