‘’OLONGAPO: CITY ON THE GO’’

Naging espesyal na panauhin sa inaguaral session ng Sangguniang Panlungsod si City Mayor James ‘’Bong’’ Gordon, Jr. nitong ika-4 ng Hulyo 2007 na ginanap sa FMA Hall ng City Hall.

Sa pangunguna ni Vice-Mayor at Presiding Officer Cynthia Cajudo ay masayang sinalubong ng mga miembro ng Sangguniang Panlungsod si Mayor Bong Gordon.

Sa ibinigay na mensahe ng punong-lungsod ay sumentro ito sa pagbabalik-tanaw sa tatlong (3) taong administrasyon na naka-angkla sa Eleven –Point Agenda na may acronym na ‘’CITY ON THE GO’’ na ang ibig sabihin ay:

Comprehensive Health Services
Improved Business Atmosphere
Tourism Program & Sub-Regional Center
Youth and Sports Development

Olongapo as a Freeport City
New Small and Medium Enterprises

Training & Education Enhancement Program
Housing Program
Enhance Peace and Order Condition

Governance and Public Service
Outreach Program and Social Welfare Program

‘’Looking back, the past three years had been most productive and a gratifying term as we achieved unprecedented in-roads in our plans and targets. These are not hollow projects but each was pursued with empirical benefits to the community,’’ bahagi ng mensahe ni Mayor Gordon sa harap rin ng mga dumalong brgy. Officials, department heads at civic organizations.

Bilang pagtupad sa ipinangako sa mga residente ng Olongapo ay sisimulan na rin ng pamahalaan ang center-piece program ng lungsod. Ang five (5) basic agenda program na ‘’Olongapo HELPS’’ na ang ibig sabihin ay:

Health and Environment
Education and Skills Development
Livelihood
Peace and Order
Social Services and Sports Development

Binuksan rin ang ibat-ibang isyu na ayon kay Mayor Gordon ay higit pang pagtutuunan ng pansin kabilang na rito ang:
· Pag-amienda sa City Revenue Code na magbababa sa tax rates and fees sa permit at licenses;
· Patuloy na pagpapatupad sa Land Management Program at Mass Land Titling Project;

· Higit pang pagpapalakas sa revenue collections ng ibat-ibang City Government Organizational Structures;
· Pagpapalakas sa mga City Tourism Program sa pamamagitan ng koordinasyon sa mga private sectors, ibat-ibang non-government organizations at ahensiya;
· Higit pang pagsasa-ayos sa traffic management at pagsasagawa ng mga epektibong regulasyon sa public transport system;
· Paglalagay ng epektibong Asset Management Program sa lahat ng mga pag-aari ng pamahalaan;
· Konstruksyon ng ibat-ibang infrastructure projects para sa benipisyo ng komunidad.

Bilang panghuling bahagi ng mensahe, ay nanawagan rin si Mayor Bong Gordon sa lahat na makiisa sa krusada tungo sa mas maganda, maayos at makabuluhang pagbabago ng Olongapo.
