LTO, PASG declare war vs smuggling
THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) and Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group (PASG) have joined together to crash smuggling in the country.
This was disclosed yesterday by Transportation and Communications Assistant Secretary and LTO chief Reynaldo Berroya during an interview in his Quezon City office.
Berroya said LTO has been closely coordinating with PASG chief Undersecretary Bebot Villar to curb the smuggling of luxury vehicles.
“My office and his office (Villar) have been exchanging intelligence reports and other relevant information to pinpoint and crackdown all individuals involved in the illegal activities,” he said
“Tahimik lang nagtratrabaho ang mga tao ng LTO at PASG para lansagin at ubusin ang mga smugglers na ito na nagpapasok ng mga luxury vehicle sa bansa ng hindi nagbabayad ng kaukulang revenues taxes,” Berroya said.
“In fact one of the trusted operatives of PASG has just visited me and we discussed important matters related to our jobs. But of course I could not reveal it,” he said.
Earlier, the LTO and Bureau of Customs had signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to run after smugglers.
The LTO also said that they would not register all reported vehicles with questionable documents.
