Lopez group bags deal to run Subic-Clark road
A Lopez-led consortium has won the bid for an interim contract to operate and manage the Subic-Clark-Tarlac expressway.
The Bases Conversion and Development Authority said it served the notice of award Wednesday to the joint venture of First Philippine Holdings Corp., French engineering firm Egis Road Operation and Tollways Management Corp.
The interim service provider will operate and manage the 93.77-kilometer expressway for a period of six months to one year starting early next year.
BCDA president Narciso Abaya said the agency declined to disclose the revenue projections and other provisions of the contract.
“We cannot disclose the figures yet since they haven’t agreed to take on the project yet. We issued the notice of award Wednesday and they haven’t given the conforme... ,” Abaya said.
He said earlier that the agency opted to bid out the interim contract with the option to renew after two failed biddings for a 10-year operation and management contract.
The agency will schedule a third bidding for the long-term operation and management contract next year.
Abaya said the agency had to bid out the interim contract in place of the long-term contract since Package 2 of the project was expected completed by yearend.
