2 killed, 17 others hurt in Olongapo road accident

At least two persons were killed while 17 others were injured in a road accident in Olongapo City in Zambales province before dawn Sunday.

Radio dzXL reported that the accident involved a passenger jeep (CVP-259, body GO8100), and a delivery truck (WKL-157) carrying chickens along the national highway at Kalaklan village.

Police initially identified the fatalities as Larry Bermudez, 45, the jeep's driver, and passenger Joselito Collado, a security guard.

At least 17 other passengers were rushed to the James Gordon Memorial Hospital for injuries in the head, arms, and feet.

At large is the driver of the delivery truck, initially identified as Narciso Luna, who fled the scene after the accident.

Initial investigation showed the jeep was heading for Subic when it collided with the truck driven by Luna. - GMANews.TV
