CRIME OF PASSION
OLONGAPO CITY – Police investigators are looking into the “love triangle” angle as the motive behind the gruesome murder of Viva Hot Babe Scarlet Garcia and three others, treating a former live-in partner of her boyfriend, who was among the victims, as a suspect.
Senior Superintendent Abelardo Villacorta, Olongapo City police chief, said the lead came from the relatives of George Castro, Garcia’s boyfriend, whom probers interviewed yesterday.
Castro’s relatives told investigators that the ex-girlfriend warned Castro and his family through text messages, saying that he would be killed the moment he leaves her for Garcia.
Police said there was also an instance when Castro sold a car to his ex-girlfriend. He took the money but he failed to give her the vehicle’s official receipt (OR) and certificate of registration (CR), which angered the woman.
Villacorta said the victims possibly knew the suspects since they allowed them inside the room of their apartment at 52 Acacia St., Barangay Gordon Heights, here.
"Nakatali iyong mga kamay at paa ng mga biktima, then may mga disarranged sa loob ng kuwarto which means the suspects were looking for something inside. Baka hinahanap ‘yung OR at CR ng kotse na nabili ng dating GF ni Castro," said Villacorta.
Villacorta said they are gathering additional evidences to strengthen their case against the woman who is reportedly working for Federal Express, a courier service firm.
Firemen responding to a fire at 52 Acacia St. around 3 a.m. Thursday found Garcia of Viva Hot Babes Batch 3, her cousin Rachel Estacio, Castro, and Estacio’s boyfriend Von Mark Bandejas dead and burned. They succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.
The killers attempted to raze the apartment down in an apparent attempt to hide the crime. Firefighters managed to put out the fire quickly. The lack of oxygen in the sealed apartment helped contain the blaze, firefighters said.
Homicide investigators theorized that the four were engaged in a drinking spree when they were attacked at past midnight Thursday.
Garcia and Estacio were found sprawled inside the comfort room on the second floor while Castro and Bandejas were found hogtied and dead in the living room. Their bodies were singed.
Witnesses told the police that an unidentified man was seen around 2 a.m. transferring some items from a Toyota Vios (ZAJ-203) to a dark blue car parked in front of the apartment. By MAR SUPNAD - TEMPO
