Another worker dies at Hanjin shipyard

SUBIC, Zambales – A welder died when a steel plate accidentally fell on him inside the fabrication bay of the Korean shipyard in Redondo Peninsula, Barangay Cawag, Sunday morning.

Subic police chief Senior Insp. Nelson dela Cruz said Oliver Labbay, 32, of Barangay Sta. Rita, Olongapo City, was hired by KC Technology, a subcontractor of Hanjin Heavy Industries Company.

Witnesses said at 1:50 a.m. Sunday, Labbay was grinding a steel plate at Sub-Assembly No.1, Unit 21 at the Hanjin warehouse when a steel plate nearby suddenly collapsed, hitting hin n the back.
