Redondo Bay Development Council Formed

Deloso Issues Executive Order Creating Redondo Bay Development Council; Designates Figueras as Head

Iba, Zambales - Governor Amor Deloso issued Executive Order No.06-08, creating the Redondo Bay Development Council to address, dialogue and establish parameters of all concerns of the inhabitants of the area affected or to be affected by developments in Redondo Peninsula.

The Executive Order No. 06-08 states that considering the urgent need to address the problems relative to the developments and projects covering Redondo Peninsula and adjoining areas, affecting the residents a special council was hereby constituted.

EO 06-08 says that provincial government of Zambales desires that this major development in Redondo Peninsula project must put the interest of the people at its center and as such, all laws and regulations pertaining to labor, health, environment, security, safety, peace and order, among others, are strictly enforced and complied with.

The Redondo Bay Development Council, according to Deloso, would be tasked to dialogue and establish parameters of all concerns of the inhabitants of the area affected by the Redondo Project and focus specifically on the developments of the area.

Belen Quintana- Figueras, a journalist by profession, a community organizer of AKBAYAN party-list and a former member of Task Force Hanjin under the office of Governor Deloso, who defended the plight of the communities affected by the demolition of the Hanjin Project , was designated by Governor Deloso as chairman of said Council.

Other members of the Redondo Bay Development Council are Atty. Carlos Castillo,a lawyer, Engr. Dave Maceda, a geodetic engineer and Sonny Olis, a broadcaster by profession.

The council will be guided by its advisers, Edgar Garcia, SBMA FSC Director and Atty Gladys Bautista, In-House- Counsel of the Provincial Capitol.

The EO also gave authority to the Chairman upon approval of the governor, to enlist other persons as Secretariat, who may assist the council in the implementation of assigned duties subject to applicable rules and regulations.

Governor Deloso is optimistic that the signed EO would assure that the people of Zambales will get maximum benefits from the Redondo Bay Project and all valid issues and concerns shall be properly and immediately addressed while at the same time maintain good working relations with investors as important partners of economic development in the province.
