BCLP-OC SEMINAR ON PARLIAMENTARY AT FMA HALL
The Barangay Councilor’s League of the Philippines- Olongapo City Chapter (BCLP-OC) recently held a Seminar on Parliamentary Procedures and Resolution Making at FMA Hall of the Olongapo City Hall.
The parliamentary seminar focused on the rules of order, ethics and customs governing meetings and other operations of the league.
“Membership of the BCLP-OC does not only include barangay councilors, it also includes barangay captains and officials, city government and national government officials,” Executive Secretary and Adviser Cesar Santiago said. “It is composed of more than one hundred thirty (130) regular, honorary, associate and charter members.”
Late last year , the new set of officers their oath before Mayor James Gordon, Jr. at the Rizal Triangle Multi-Purpose Center where Mayor Gordon stressed the pursuance of the “One product, One Barangay” livelihood project of the BCLP-OC intended for the residents of Olongapo. “At umasa kayo na buo ang suportang ibibigay ng pamahalaang lokal sa mga livelihood projects na sisimulan ng inyong barangay,’’ Mayor Gordon said during the oathtaking.
The league has already launched projects on credit and loan, burial assistance, scholarship, medical assistance and inter-barangay commercial basketball league. All of these benefit the immediate relatives of the members.
The group is also eyeing to adapt the new system on putting up a computer learning center for each barangay in preparation for the planned creation of a website in order to easily access the ordinances and resolutions to be implemented for each barangay.
The BCLP-OC was founded in 2004, with Cesar Santiago as the founding president.
