Plastic Products Plant to Rise in Philippines' Subic

Asia Pulse - A Japanese company engaged in manufacturing polypropylene pellets and other plastic products will set up a manufacturing plant in this premier Freeport zone and infuse around P32 million (US$627,205) in committed investments.

Subic Amino Hightech Corp., an Asahi Corporation-sponsored firm, will manufacture polypropylene pellets and other plastic products involved in the utilization of high technology central processing unit (CPU) controlled pelletizers from Japan.

SAHC will initially employ some 30 skilled workers from the nearby communities.

Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Administrator Armand C. Arreza said the construction of a plastic manufacturing plant will boost the country's exportation of raw plastic materials.

"Plastic is being used in making washbowls, pellets, PVC pipes, colored box, video cassettes and other plastic-based materials. There is certainly a great demand for polypropylene pellets in the global market, and Subic will be a good venue to start the endeavor," he added.

SAHC eyes a 1,700 square metre facility located at Lot 2, Boston Light and Science Park. Its end product Polypropylen pellets are used as a raw material for plastic.

The product is intended for export to Japan and other Asian countries.
