Power of Information at Olongapo City Jail

The City Public Library, headed by Beth Daduya, conducted a literacy project for city jail inmates at Olongapo City Jail last January 16, 2008.

City Mayor James ‘’Bong’’ Gordon, Jr. and Olongapo First Lady and Zambales Vice Governor Anne Marie Gordon together with Vice Mayor Cynthia Cajudo ang Brgy. Barretto Chairman Carlito Baloy supported the said project.

Themed “Power of Information at Olongapo City Jail”, the City Library provided the city jail inmates with knowledge and information about livelihood and education which may help them start anew after having served jail terms.

Information about livelihood were shared with the inmates through the help of the City Livelihood and Cooperative Development Office (LCDO).

Gordon College President Dr. Arlida Pame also introduced the training courses they offer such as computer training, housekeeping, welding training and ladderized education.

Meanwhile, Dr. John James Larafoster also provided the inmates with a spiritual rehabilitation activity entitled “Spring of Hope”.

The inmates likewise prepared a 30-minute production number entitled “Olongapo Noon at Ngayon” to the delight of the crowd.
