ALAY LAKAD 2008 FINALIZED
The 2008 Alay Lakad Executive Committee, led by Zambales Vice Governor and Olongapo City First Lady Anne Marie Gordon of the Soroptomist International, has laid out its activities in the campaign to raise funds for the organization’s social projects for Olongapo’s youth, particularly scholarship grants.
The income generating activities lined-up include a bingo social game, raffle, distribution of stickers, t-shirt printing and placing donation boxes in different business establishments in the city.
The Bingo Social game will be held on September 30, 2008 at the Plenary Hall of the Olongapo City Convention Center (OCCC). The organization is also currently distributing raffle tickets and stickers and selling souvenir t-shirts as additional source of funds of the foundation.
The donation boxes can be found in ten (10) different business establishments around the city. The Olongapo-Subic Bankers Association (OSBBA), meanwhile, also confirmed that they will be placing twenty eight (29) donation boxes in twenty eight (28) different banks around Olongapo and Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ).
The ‘Alay Lakad’ 2008 on October 5, 2008 will be led by Olongapo City Mayor James ‘Bong’ Gordon Jr. and Alay Lakad Exe-Com Chair Vice Governor Anne Gordon. Over three thousand (3000) participants are expected to join the said event.
Assembly time will be at 6 a.m. and will start at the Rizal Triangle Multi-Purpose Center to end at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone Boardwalk.
The Alay Lakad will be joined by government officials, civic groups, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) employees and locators and DepEd Olongapo, which is expected to have the biggest delegation.
After the actual walk, a program will be held which will recognize the outstanding participants in the said event. Awards include the chairman’s award, highest contributor (individual and group), earliest contributor (individual and group), biggest delegation, most disciplined group, most colorful group and youngest participant.
Mayor Gordon and Alay Lakad Chair Anne Marie will also be awarding certificates to the five (5) individuals and organizations for their unwavering support for the organization’s activities and programs for 2007.
Alay Lakad Foundation has already been instrumental in giving a brighter future to many of Olongapo’s youth because of their continuing assistance to the gifted but are unable to continue their education because of financial difficulties.
