MS. NEW CABALAN IS CITY FIESTA QUEEN 2011

Ms. Barangay New Cabalan Jeanelle Wilmar Pebble Paclibar is the Olongapo City Fiesta Queen 2011.
The competition’s Board of Canvassers declared Paclibar the winner after she topped the 2011 City Fiesta Queen canvassing again – the second and last canvassing this time – last Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the East Tapinac Oval Track.

The Olongapo City Fiesta Executive Committee (EXECOM) raised a total amount of P1.3 M from the first canvassing and last canvassing. The said amount will be used to support the Barangay Health Centers of the 17 barangay of the city, tourism projects and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Reigning City Fiesta Queen Eva Marie Timoteo will pass on the crown to Paclibar during the Coronation Night on December 28, 2011 at the Rizal Triangle near the Olongapo City Hall.

Aside from Mayor Gordon, First Lady Anne Marie Gordon, EXECOM Chairman Councilor James “Bugsy” Delos Reyes and City Councilors Rodel Cerezo, Edna Elane and Edic Piano and other government officials were also present to witness the said event.

Barangay officials came in full force to show their support for their respective candidates. One of the highlights of the program was when the barangay captains presented roses to their candidates.

D’IMPROEUVRES JR. WINS TOP PLUM IN WAGI

Heavy rains did not deter the participants and even the audience to watch WAGI (Wow Artistang Gapo Ito), the first citywide talent search at the grassroots level initiated by the Olongapo city government.

The dance group D’improuvers Jr. bested 14 other finalists who vied for the title WAGI Grand Champion and the P 50,000.00 grand prize at the grand finals held at the East Tapinac Oval Track (ETOT) last December 17, 2011.
The 15-member group’s synchronized and graceful execution of complex dance routines wowed the crowd and the Board of Judges headed by noted TV personality & impersonator – Bataan provincial board member Terry Aunor.

Oman Dela Roma of Barangay Mabayuan won as first runner-up; the dance group Perlas ng Silangan of Barangay Pag-asa, second runner-up: the Feel So Smooth dancers, third runnger-up; and solo performer Almira Lat, fourth runner-up.

“Kami po ay lubos na nagpapasalamat sa bumubuo ng WAGI sa pagkakataong binigay sa amin upang maipakilala ang aming pangalan at maipagmalaki ang aming talent,” said Mary Ann “Bally” Baleos, D’improuvers Jr. Choreographer.

“We will forever treasure the finals night, as it was one of our grandest experience in the limelight, para po sa lahat ng naniniwala sa amin maraming salamat po at alay namin sa inyong lahat ang aming pagkapanalo,” added Baleos.

“Makakaasa ang ating mga kababayan dito sa Olongapo na patuloy tayong magbibigay ng pagkakataon, sa pamamagitan ng mga proyektong tulad ng WAGI, upang maipakita nila at mahasa nang husto ang kanilang mga talento at kahusayan sa anumang larangan,” remarked Mayor James “Bong” Gordon Jr.
