LYCEUM de Subic Bay trounced informatics A, 95-73, to join Universal College on top of Group A with a pristine 20 slate in the seniors’ division of the 15th Fr. Martin Summer Cup at the La Consolacion gym.

National University downed Ateneo de Naga, 67-56, in the only other seniors’ match, while San Beda slammed Ateneo de naga, 76-30; San Beda - Alabang blasted Naga City Montessori; 77-61, and PMMS edged Nokia RP, 76-72, in juniors’ action.

Molten, www.gameface.ph, and Danding Cojuangco Jr. are backing the tournament.

OLONGAPO CITY COMMENDS LYCEUM OF SUBIC BAY

The City Government of Olongapo, through the Sangguniang Panglungsod, recently passed a resolution in recognition of the successful performance of Lyceum of Subic Bay and four of its examinees in the latest Licensure Examination for Customs Brokers.

Resolution No. 196 Series of 2008 commends Lyceum of Subic Bay and its graduates who dominated the top spots in the said licensure exam administered by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC). Hazel B. Uson topped the exams with a general average of 90.75.

The other three were Hazel M. Habacon in 3rd place, Alejo P. Dela Cruz in 6th place and Suzette F. Somigao in 9th place.

Olongapo City Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. signed the resolution on December 17, 2008 affirming the City Government’s resolve to encourage the youth to excel in their respective endeavors.

The achievers received Certificates of Recognition during the Flag Raising Ceremony of City Government employees on January 12, 2008 at the Rizal Triangle Multi Purpose Center. City Mayor James “Bong” Gordon and Vice Mayor Cynthia Cajudo personally handed the certificates.

Olongapo takes pride in the achievements of the awardees who reaped honors not only for themselves, but as well as for their families, and ultimately for the city.

Lyceum Subic Tops Customs Broker Licensure Exam

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has announced that 254 out of 1,108 passed the Customs Broker Licensure Examination which was given by the Board for Customs Brokers in Manila, Cebu and Davao last October 2008.

Hazel Ann Binaday Uson of Lyceum Subic Bay, Inc. topped the examinations with a score of 90.75 followed by Ma Gina Sumando Menil with 89.25 and Jardine Muyot Gerodias with 88.75. Menil and Gerodias were both from Philippine Maritime Institute (PMI) -Manila.

PRC said the members of the Board for Customs Brokers who gave the recent licensure examination were Mr. Constantino L. Calica, chairman and Atty. Ferdinand A. Nague, member.

PRC said the results were released in three working days after the last day of the examination

The registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will start on Monday, November 10, 2008 but not later than November 21, 2008, said PRC.

Those who will register are required to bring the following:
duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal,
current Community Tax Certificate (cedula),
2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete name tag),
1 piece 1” x 1” picture (colored with white background and complete name tag),
2 sets of metered documentary stamps, and
1 short brown envelope with name and profession
They should also pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2008-2011.

PRC said that successful examinees should personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals.

The oathtaking ceremony of the successful examinees meanwhile is set to be held before the Board on December 1, at 1:00 p.m. at the Centennial Hall, Manila Hotel, One Rizal Park, Manila.

Those who have passed the previous licensure examinations and who have not taken their Oath of Professional are also encouraged to join.

Lyceum Subic reigns supreme in UCLAA 1st season

Six schools in the region met in a three-day basketball event wherein Lyceum of Subic reigned over other competing teams.

Lyceum of Subic met other basketball teams in the United Central Luzon Athletic Association (UCLLA): 1st Mayor Francis "Blue Boy" Nepomuceno Champions' League held at Holy Angel University (HAU) Gymnasium from August 11 to 13.

Matching wits with Lyceum were Bulacan State University (BSU), St. Nicolas College (SNC), Tarlac State University (TSU), University of the Assumption (UA), and HAU.

The first-ever UCLAA games were meant to forge camaraderie and provide an effective training for school varsity basketball players.

Through basketball, the participating schools are also expected to bring about a yearly competition that will serve as a benchmark for other basketball competitions in the region.

HAU president Arlyn Villanueva and Mayor Nepomuceno led the welcome remarks and the opening rites for the opening of the games.

Lyceum had an early win in the first day of the games over BSU with a score of 94-81. Team HAU, which was also making a good lead in the games, was conquered by Lyceum at 75-63. Team Lyceum galvanized its win as it defeated TSU with 96-68 on the scoreboard at the last round of the games.

Final ranking included HAU (first runner-up), UA (second runner up), St. Nicolas of Science and Technology (third runner-up), BSU (fourth runner-up) and TSU (fifth runner-up). Sun Star

INGAY SA SUBIC NIGHT MARKET INENEREKLAMO

Nagrereklamo ang eskwelahang Lyceum Subic Bay dahil sa ingay na likha ng binuksang night market sa Freeport.

Ayon kay Alfonso Borda, pangulo at punong tagapangasiwa ng naturang paaralan, hindi daw makapagconcentrate ang kanilang mga mag-aaral dahil sa malalakas na tugog at ingay mula a night market.

Sa kanyang liham sa pamunuan ng Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) sinabi ni Borda na nakakabulahaw ang tugtugan sa night market at nabubulabog ang mga estudyante ng Lyceum lalo pa yung mga mag-aaral ng panggabi.

Alas sais pa lng dawn g haon ay nambubulabog na ang mga stalls malapit sa kanilang eskwelahan at nakikiusap sila na kung maari’y pagsabihan ang mga may puwesto sa night market na saka na lang mag patugtog ng malakas pagkatapos ng mga klase sa gabi.

Sinabi naman ni Atty. Zosimo Mendoza, abugado ng mga nagrereklamo rin na mga vendors sa oLongapo, na hindi raw akma ang paglalagay ng Night Market sa may Helipad area ng Freeport dahil ito ay itinalagang institutional zona para sa mga opisina at eskwelahan at hindi para sa isang tiyangge.
